Vote for me

I am standing for election as Secretary of Lewisham Deptford Labour Party; I’d like to thank the five branches and two union branches that nominated me.

1 have been fighting for a fairer society, in the Labour Party since 1974, for 42 years, sometime with some influence and sometimes with very little.

The Riot Dog dies

The Guardian reports that Loukanikos, a stray dog in Athens that had spent its time supporting the demonstrators against austerity has died. Here’s a picture of him, probably thinking of bones,

And off to Manchester

I travelled up to Manchester for Labour Party Conference, we are using the tag #lab14. I got the station wrong again! Manchester is Euston! I wish Priority Pass would get Lounge access there but I expect it’s Virgin and they won’t play ball with them; Virgin lounges are reserved for Virgin Upper Class ticket holders.

You might like to look back

Just published my notes for the pictfor meeting held on the 14th Feb earlier this year, it was about Europe and the Digital Economy. And no I didn’t take Mrs L.

I dropped into Ivana Bartoletti’s campaign launch rally. She is a candidate in London Labour’s selection process to be a candidate for the European Parliament. I was pointed to her by a Deptford comrade, Joe Dromey, visited her web site and like her story. There were three speeches, thankfully short, and she wrapped up. The other speeches were by Seema Malhotra MP and Jeanette Arnold OBE AM, and her supporters page includes statements of support from Dianne Abbot MP and Mike Gapes MP; oddly,

A Nordic morning

Just back from a trip to Guildford, to the Scandinavian Fair. We now have some Xmas presents for others, a hat for me, and some snacks with which to watch “The Killing”.

No pickled fish unfortunately, but we made up for that on the way home.

Return of the Fleet

I popped down to Pompey to see the boats of the Ondeck Atlantic Challange since a friend won a place on one of the boats.

He got in at 3:00 in the morning after crossing the Atlantic and had sensibly tried to get some sleep on the land. I took some pictures which are in a set called Ondeck in Pompey.

Around and about in London

Back at work after our first weekend in our newly rented flat in London. We took a turn about Docklands, visiting the London Ice Sculpture festival, and on Sunday, we went out to the London Boat Show, which is at the ExCel Centre on Victoria Dock.

While I had to look at some of the boats, and couldn’t avoid looking over a somewhat excessive Sunseeker, I also visited a couple of training exhibitions and several of the holiday companies, which has given me some ideas as to what I might do this summer. Sail Ionian is offering passage from Gibralter to Greece via Sardinia, which might be fun, depending on the personality of the skipper and rest of the crew, although it takes a while and I may not have the leave. Sailing Holidays might be another way to do the Ionian or even the Saronic Gulf on the east coast of the Peloponese and both Nisos Yachts, another greek charter company & Moonfleet Sailing, a training company had stands. We also looked over a couple of J boats, although I can’t imagine buying any of them.

Back Online with BT Boadband

Since I need a new broadband connection, I have been struggling with BT’s home hub since last Wednesday, which is why this blog has been unavailable. I finally discovered that I had not correctly configured the bliki host’s gateway and dns server addresses. So despite being exceptionally cross with BT because no-one would help me, it turns out that it was all my fault, particularly since I ignored at least two people’s advice to check it. I used this site to organise my notes and asked for help at BT’s forums on a thread called port forwarding/http service.

Neverwinter Nights

Last weekend, I played some Neverwinternights (V1) and finished my first run through Witch’s Wake as a Cleric of Tempus and my second run through SoU, in which I played as fighter/thief travelling with Misha Waymeet. I wish I hadn’t played Witch’s Wake which I have reviewed on this bliki, but I am on to Shadohaunt (sic) with my adventurer from Udrentide.
